Joseph Stalin and Totalitarianism

Totalitarianism is a state regulation of nearly every aspect of public and private behavior. Joseph Stalin was able to take control of Russia after the death of Lenin. He first rose to power in the year 1922 as a leader in the communism party. Lenin was the head of the Soviet Union. Once in power he became a totalitarian dictator. Stalin was in full control of Russia. He had so much power that he controlled the media and only allowed information that he wanted to let the people know out. Stalin didn't allow that much freedom to go through Russia. He would kill anyone who went against him. Stalin introduced Russia to a five year plan to industrialize it because Russia was a farm based society. He also introduced the "Great Purge" which meant the he killed all the people of the communism party that brought him to his power.
